Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Collection – Volumes 1–21
Enter the dark supernatural world of Jujutsu Kaisen with this 21-book English paperback manga collection containing Volumes 1 through 21 of Gege Akutami’s internationally popular series.
Published in English by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint, Jujutsu Kaisen combines supernatural horror, fast-paced battles, dark fantasy, humour and emotionally intense character development.
The series follows Yuji Itadori, an exceptionally athletic high-school student whose life changes after he becomes involved with a dangerous cursed object. In an attempt to save people around him, Yuji swallows one of the preserved fingers of the legendary curse Ryomen Sukuna.
Instead of dying immediately, Yuji becomes Sukuna’s host.
This brings him into the hidden world of jujutsu sorcerers, people trained to confront supernatural beings created from negative human emotions.
VIZ identifies the series as Action-Adventure and Supernatural manga and rates the English editions Teen Plus.
Yuji Itadori and Jujutsu High
Yuji is brought into Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he begins learning about cursed energy and the dangerous responsibilities of being a jujutsu sorcerer.
His fellow first-year students include Megumi Fushiguro, a serious and highly capable sorcerer with unusual techniques, and Nobara Kugisaki, whose confidence and determination make her a powerful member of the team.
Their teacher, Satoru Gojo, quickly becomes one of the most important characters in the series. Extremely powerful but unpredictable, Gojo represents both enormous strength and a challenge to the traditional structures of the jujutsu world.
Cursed Spirits and Sukuna
At the centre of the manga’s supernatural world are curses—dangerous entities connected to human fear and negative emotions.
Among them, Sukuna occupies a particularly frightening position.
Because Yuji has become Sukuna’s vessel, the relationship between the two creates constant danger. Yuji wants to protect people, while Sukuna’s goals are completely different.
This conflict gives the series an unusual dynamic: one of the greatest threats in the story is literally inside the protagonist.
Major Story Arcs Covered
Volumes 1–21 cover a substantial portion of the Jujutsu Kaisen story.
The collection includes material from major sections such as:
- the opening Yuji Itadori storyline
- early Jujutsu High missions
- Junpei and Mahito
- the Kyoto Goodwill Event
- Death Painting-related conflicts
- Gojo’s Past / Hidden Inventory
- the Shibuya Incident
- the aftermath of Shibuya
- the beginning and development of the Culling Game
By Volume 21, the story has progressed deep into the Culling Game, with characters including Hakari, Panda and Kashimo becoming increasingly important. VIZ’s official Volume 21 description confirms its placement during this part of the story.
Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto
Several volumes also explore the earlier relationship between Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto.
Volume 9, for example, includes their mission involving the Star Plasma Vessel and the appearance of Toji Fushiguro, an event that has major consequences for both men.
These sections give readers important context for the motivations and conflicts seen later in the series.
The Shibuya Incident
A major portion of this collection contains the acclaimed Shibuya Incident storyline.
The conflict dramatically increases the scale of the manga, involving powerful cursed spirits, jujutsu sorcerers and important characters across multiple simultaneous battles.
VIZ’s Volume 11 description shows the beginning of the escalating Shibuya conflict surrounding Gojo and the cursed spirits.
For spoiler-sensitive readers, it is best to experience these volumes without knowing the major outcomes beforehand.
The Culling Game
Later volumes transition into the Culling Game, a deadly conflict involving existing sorcerers, newly awakened participants and powerful reincarnated fighters.
By Volumes 19–21, Yuji, Megumi and their allies are navigating colonies and trying to influence the rules of the game while confronting dangerous opponents.
