Heaven Official’s Blessing (Chinese title: **天官赐福 / Tiān Guān Cì Fú) is a celebrated Chinese xianxia fantasy novel written by bestselling author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. Originally serialized online on Jinjiang Literature City in 2017–2018, it has become one of the most popular works in modern Chinese fantasy, blending mythology, adventure, emotional drama, and romance in a richly imagined supernatural world. The story has been officially translated into English (with Volume 1 released in December 2021) and has inspired multiple adaptations including a widely popular animated series (donghua) and manhua (comic).
In Volume 1, readers are introduced to Xie Lian, a once-beloved crown prince of the prosperous Kingdom of Xianle who, after a series of tragic events, becomes a god. Although he ascended to the heavens at a young age due to his noble character and accomplishments, his divine career is fraught with misfortune—he has already been banished twice and returned to the mortal world. Now, eight hundred years later, he ascends to godhood for a third time, much to the disdain and mockery of other gods.
Sent on missions by the Heavenly Realm to the Mortal Realm to deal with dangerous ghosts and troublesome spirits, Xie Lian wanders the world in humble circumstances, often reduced to collecting scraps to survive. Despite the derision he faces and the hardships of his past, Xie Lian remains kind-hearted, compassionate, and unwavering in his commitment to help others.
During one of his tasks, he encounters a mysterious and charismatic young man known as San Lang (later revealed as Hua Cheng), whose carefree demeanor hides deep complexity and power. San Lang becomes an enigmatic companion whose presence gradually draws Xie Lian deeper into a mysterious bond, and the novel begins to unfold both their shared past and the evolving emotional connection between them.
Volume 1 lays the foundation for a sweeping tale that seamlessly intertwines supernatural action, character growth, and emotional depth. Its narrative balances elements of fantasy, romance (particularly in the danmei—Boys’ Love—genre), mythology, and introspection, making it a compelling and immersive experience for readers around the globe.
